The Trump regime controls the House and Senate, but Democrats are fighting to limit the damage.
- President Biden added Federal judges at historic rates during his term, which is slowing the MAGA wrecking all.
- Democrats forced significant changes to the (still tragically destructive) HR1 budget bill, such as removing the ban on state regulation of AI for ten years.
Illinois
Illinois is one of fifteen “trifecta” Democratic states (listed here) with our Democratic Governor Pritzker and House and Senate majorities, and we are thus particularly empowered to fight attacks by the Trump regime:
- HB3637 – Protecting Reproductive Healthcare – Expanded legal protections for doctors, nurses, and patients, especially for reproductive care; also allows medical providers in the state to continue prescribing abortion pills, even if the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finds them to be unsafe.
- Illinois’ Medicaid omnibus bill – This legislation, though modest in cost, delivers meaningful improvements: allowing family members of medically fragile children to become certified caregivers, and ensuring Medicaid patients can be accompanied by a certified doula during childbirth.
- Affordable Housing – Pushing for more access to quality, affordable homes across our communities.
- Workforce Development – Investing in job training programs that lead to stable, good-paying jobs
- Outlawed book bans in libraries
- Transit Equity – Improving safety, access, and reliability of public transit for working families and underserved neighborhoods.
- Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, along with 20 other Democratic attorneys general, are calling on Congress to pass legislation that would ban federal immigration agents from wearing masks and require them to display visible identification and insignia while performing their duties.
