Artist Reception Sunday afternoon, June 25th 2-4 PM
Our own Nancy Staszak’s exhibit “Worlds Before Us” will be on display in the Art Gallery, located in the lobby, throughout June during the Woodridge Library’s regular hours of operation.
Nancy is an award-winning artist and a long-time resident of Woodridge, a retired art teacher, an avid reader who enjoys science fiction, and a gardener and hiker who enjoys nature and just about everything. She writes:
The world before us is intricate and beautiful: all of it from telephone poles and
cellular towers around us, to natural landscapes and animals present and past,
and what we imagine dinosaurs may have looked like before we were even here. There are other worlds too, in our own galaxy and beyond.
With so many different subjects and art materials to explore, it’s satisfying to
experiment and see what effects you can get and how much fun (or frustration) it can be! Paints, prints, pencil, collage — all of them offer opportunities to look
around at the world before us, to wonder, and to create an impression of it all.
Nancy hopes you will enjoy the work here and perhaps feel inspired to try your hand at some form of art too. Taking part in creation is a very human and joyful thing to do — trying something different and making mistakes, solving problems, and creating something new. |
