Coined by civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis, “Good Trouble” is the action of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change.
The civil rights leaders of the past have shown us the power of collective action. That’s why on Thursday, July 17, five years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, communities across the country will take to the streets, courthouses, and community spaces to carry forward his fight for justice, voting rights, and dignity for all.
The official website is at goodtroubleliveson.org. At this time, the closest event for most of us will be in Naperville from 5 to 6:30 pm. Sign up for this event at mobilize.us/john-lewis-actions/event/809279.
(According to a LWV newsletter and a map on the sign-up page, it looks like the plan is to gather south of Edward Hospital and march across the Washington Av. bridge. I will try to confirm this and re-post this article next week.)
